Delete your Sayara account
This page explains how to delete your account in the Sayara app (for renters) and the Sayara partner app (for rental offices), both operated by Vialo Co LLC, a limited liability company registered in Wyoming, United States, what is deleted, and what is kept and why.
In the Sayara app (renters)
- Open the Sayara app and sign in.
- Tap the person icon at the top of the home screen to open My trips.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account, then confirm.
Your account is deleted straight away and you are signed out. You cannot delete your account while you have an accepted booking, or a rental that is in progress or in dispute: finish or cancel it first (cancelling follows the Refund & Cancellation Policy). If your phone number is also used to manage a rental office, the app will ask you to call us.
In the Sayara partner app (rental offices)
Open the partner app and sign in. Then:
- If you see the Today screen: tap Account (the person icon at the top), then Delete my login at the bottom, and confirm.
- If the app says "This number isn’t set up as a Sayara office yet": tap Delete my login at the bottom of that screen, and confirm.
If your phone number is not linked to an office, your login is deleted straight away. If it is linked to an office, the app sends us a request and we remove the login by hand within a few days, after making sure the office still has someone who can run its bookings; we may call you to confirm. The office owner can ask us to add another phone number.
If you cannot use the app
Email support@sayara.rent with the subject Delete my account, or call +961 3 011 862. Tell us the phone number on the account. We will check that the request comes from you, usually by calling that number or sending it a code, and delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner. We will tell you when it is done.
Please do not send us a photo of your licence or any card details with your request; we do not need them.
What is deleted
- Your login, and every session signed in with it.
- Your name, phone number and email address (if you gave one) on your account.
- Your driver's licence photo or photos, and your licence type.
- The notification tokens for your phones.
- Booking requests that were still waiting for an office's answer are withdrawn. This counts as a cancellation by you under the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
What is kept, and why
Some records belong to a rental as much as to you: the office and Sayara need them for accounting, tax and possible disputes. These are kept after your account is deleted, for 10 years after the rental, and then deleted:
- Bookings, payment and refund records, handover records (photos, kilometres, fuel, the signature you gave), security-deposit records, damage claims and reviews. They are linked to an anonymous record, no longer to your name or phone number.
- Rental contracts (PDF) for rentals that started. A contract is kept exactly as it was created, so it still shows the name, phone number and signature from the time of the rental. It is the legal record of that rental for you and the office.
- Messages you exchanged with offices stay in the office's conversation for that booking, without your name.
- If your account was banned, a one-way hash of your phone number, so the same number cannot sign up again.
- For office logins, a record that your deletion request was received and completed, without your phone number.
- Technical logs kept by our hosting provider, such as the time and IP address of sign-ins, for a short period, after which they are deleted.
Copies may also remain for a limited time in our hosting provider's backups, if any exist, until they are overwritten.
Records held by the rental office
A rental office you rented from keeps its own records of your rental, as the law allows or requires. Sayara cannot delete those; ask the office directly.
Deleting is not cancelling
Deleting your account does not refund a booking fee by itself. If you have a booking you no longer want, cancel it first, under the Refund & Cancellation Policy. More about how we handle your data is in the Privacy Policy.
